The PTFE/Viton Envelope Gasket is a two-part composite gasket that combines the chemical inertness of PTFE (Teflon) with the elasticity of a Viton core. This results in a best-of-both-worlds sealing solution: the outer PTFE layer offers superior chemical resistance, while the inner Viton core provides resilience and compressibility for a tight seal under vacuum or imperfect clamp conditions.
Envelope gaskets can handle cryogenic lows (below -100°F) up to about +400°F in continuous operation. They are FDA compliant, meet 3-A sanitary standards, and USP Class VI certified for pharmaceutical use. Unlike rigid solid PTFE gaskets, the Viton core design allows these gaskets to maintain a leak-proof seal without requiring excessive clamp force.
Key Features:
-
Dual Construction: PTFE outer shell + Viton inner core.
-
Temperature Range: Cryogenic to +400°F continuous use.
-
Chemical Resistance: PTFE is virtually inert to acids, bases, and solvents. Viton core adds sealing strength.
-
Compliance: FDA compliant, 3-A sanitary, USP Class VI certified.
-
Sealing Performance: Conforms better than solid PTFE, excellent under vacuum. Recommended with high-pressure clamps.
-
Best Uses: Multi-purpose and harsh chemical environments – high-purity processes, pharmaceuticals, bio-processing, extraction, reactors, and vessels with acid/base washes.
