Intrinsically safe, not explosion proof
People asking for an explosion proof flashlight almost always want this one. Explosion proof means a housing strong enough to contain an ignition inside it. Intrinsically safe means the tool cannot release enough energy to start one in the first place.
For a hand light in a C1D1 booth, intrinsic safety is the right protection method, and UL 913 is the standard that covers it.
Check the marking against your permit
The group letters and the temperature code are printed on the light body, and they differ between variants of this light. If your permit, your inspector or your insurer names a specific marking, call the shop at 541-330-6409 and we will read the body of the one on the shelf before you order.
It is a hand tool. Permanent lighting in a Class I Division 1 space is a separate fixed listed luminaire and this does not replace it.
The mount
There is a C1D1 flashlight mount that holds this light on a 2 inch high pressure tri clamp on top of a vessel, so the beam goes down through the sight glass and lights the inside of the column. Buying the light and the mount together saves $8.00 against buying them separately.

Yes. It is intrinsically safe, listed to UL 913 for Class I Division 1.

No. This light has no CSA mark. If you need a Canadian listed light, say so before you order and we will check what is on the shelf.
Does it come with batteries?
No. It takes three AA batteries and they are not included.
What are the two LED modes for?
The focused spot is for looking down a column. The wide flood is for the bench. Both are on the same light.
Can I mount it over a sight glass?
Yes. We make a mount for exactly that. It holds the light on a 2 inch high pressure tri clamp on top of the vessel so the beam goes down through the glass and lights the inside of the column. Buy them together and save $8.00.
