4-Channel K-Type Thermocouple Data Logger, SD Card, No Software
ABOUT THIS PART
A four channel K-type thermocouple data logger that writes straight to an SD card, so a whole run is recorded with no software and no computer attached. $280.00 for the logger, $312.00 with the flex mount.
Four readings on one screen is the point of it. Column, collection, recovery and solvent tank, logged together on one time base, which is how you actually see what a run did.
What it does
- Four K-type inputs, all four displayed at once on a 104 x 47 mm backlit LCD with a real-time clock
- Logs to an SD card with no software required and no fixed record limit. An 8 GB card is in the box
- Sampling rate programmable from 1 second up
- Programmable high and low temperature alarm limits, with a beeper and an LED
- Hold, max and min from power on, one-button T1 minus T2, and a temperature offset for trimming a probe
- Handheld or wall mounted. Runs on 4 AA batteries, included, or a 9V adaptor, not included
What is in the box
- The logger
- Two K-type thermocouple wires. They come from the maker in the set and they ship to you with the logger, we do not pull them out
- One 8 GB SD card
- 4 AA batteries and the operation manual
Those two K-type items are wires, not probes. They are bare wire thermocouples for reading air, surface or line temperature, and they are not the 1/4 inch stainless thermocouple probes we build into vessels. If you need a stainless probe in a process port, that is a separate part on our thermocouple probe page.

Where it is allowed to sit
- This logger has no C1D1 listing, so it does not belong inside the classified zone. An extraction room running propane, butane or isobutane is a Class I Division 1 space, and electrical equipment inside it is expected to be listed or labeled for C1D1 by a qualified testing laboratory
- Our certifier, 3P Certz, has determined that on our systems this logger may stay in the booth as long as it is at least 12 feet from the machine, because the device sits only marginally over the intrinsic safety energy limit. Twelve feet is the floor, not a target
- If your room will not give you 12 feet, the logger goes outside the wall instead. Confirm either arrangement with whoever certifies your own room before you rely on it
- If you genuinely cannot get the logger out of the zone, the answer is an intrinsically safe instrument instead of this one. A single input and a dual input intrinsically safe thermocouple thermometer, certified Ex ia IIB T4 Ga, Class I Division 1 Groups C and D, UL and ATEX, is qualified on our systems in the same report. It costs several times what this does. Ask us and we will point you at it
- Note the operating range as well: 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F). The logger itself is not a cold-room instrument even though its probes read to -200 °C (-328 °F)
Fitment
- The inputs take mini-K. Our 1/4 inch K-type thermocouple probes end in a standard size male K plug, so a K to mini-K extension cable goes between the probe and this logger. That cable is the adapter, not an accessory
- Size the cable for the distance the logger has to keep, not for the bench. Our shortest listed cable is 6 feet and that does not cover 12 feet, so most runs need 15 feet or more
- Four channels means four thermocouples, and most systems have more temperature points than that. Pick the four that matter for the run you are logging
- The two K-type wires in the box are included in the price. They do not replace a 1/4 inch stainless probe, and buying this logger does not get you two of those
Usually ships the same day. Bought in and shipped from Bend, Oregon. This is a purchased instrument, not something we fabricate. More on how these systems are certified in Certifications and Compliance.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Does it come with thermocouples?
Yes. Two K-type thermocouple wires are in the box and they ship to you with the logger. They are wire thermocouples, for air, surface or line readings.
Are those the same as your 1/4 inch stainless probes?
No, and this is worth being clear about. The two in the box are wires. Our 1/4 inch K-type thermocouple probes are a stainless stem that goes into a vessel, column or sight spool port, and they are a separate part on their own page. Buying this logger does not get you two of those.
Can it go in the extraction room?
Not freely. It carries CE only, with no C1D1 listing and no intrinsic safety listing, so on the written rule it does not belong inside a Class I Division 1 space. Our certifier, 3P Certz, has determined that on our systems it may stay in the booth provided it is at least 12 feet from the machine, because the device sits only marginally over the intrinsic safety energy limit. If your room will not give you 12 feet, it goes outside the wall. Confirm either arrangement with whoever certifies your own room.
What if I cannot get it 12 feet away or out of the room?
Then you want an intrinsically safe instrument instead of this one. A single input and a dual input intrinsically safe thermocouple thermometer, certified Ex ia IIB T4 Ga, Class I Division 1 Groups C and D, with UL and ATEX approvals, is qualified on our systems in the same engineering report. It costs several times what this logger does and it gives you one or two channels rather than four. Ask us and we will point you at it.
What do I need to use it with your probes?
A K to mini-K extension cable. This logger takes mini-K and our 1/4 inch probes end in a standard size male K plug, so the two do not connect to each other. We build the cables here in any length.
Does it need software or a computer?
No. It writes to the SD card on its own. An 8 GB card is in the box.
How long will it log for?
There is no fixed record limit, only the card. With a sampling rate programmable from 1 second up, a full run fits easily.
How accurate is it?
±(0.3% of reading + 1 °C) at 18 to 28 °C (64 to 82 °F) ambient, with 0.1 degree resolution, per 3P Certz report ECR-210006-R1.
How cold can it read?
The K-type input range is -200 to 1370 °C (-328 to 2498 °F). The logger body itself is a 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F) instrument, so keep the box warm and let the thermocouples do the cold work.
What powers it?
4 AA batteries, included, or a 9V adaptor that is not included.
What is the mount?
A flex mount that holds the logger where you can read it. $32.00 on its own, or $312.00 for the logger with the mount against $280.00 without.
Do you make this?
No. It is a purchased instrument. We sell it because it is the logger our own systems are certified with, and we know what it does and does not do.
