Conrader SRV530 ASME Relief Valve, 250 PSI, 1/2" MNPT, 970 SCFM
Conrader SRV530 ASME Relief Valve, 250 PSI, 1/2" MNPT, 970 SCFM
Couldn't load pickup availability
Conrader SRV530, the high flow ASME relief that goes on the two biggest vessels on the system: the top of the solvent tank and the top of the recovery vessel. $273.32.
The reason is flow, not pressure. Those two vessels hold the largest volumes on the system and in an emergency they have to dump that volume fast. A valve sized for a material column will not do it.
The short version
- Set pressure: 250 psi, factory set. Spring range 171 to 259 psi
- Flow: 970 SCFM at set pressure, flow factor 3.35
- Connection: 1/2 in MNPT, mounted off a 3/4 in top cap connection with a tee
- Temperature: -15 F to 400 F (-26 C to 204 C). Not a cryogenic valve
- Brass body, 17-7 stainless spring, Viton seat
- Stamps: ASME, U stamp and National Board
- Figures from 3P Certz engineering report ECR-250902-R0, Appendix A
Read this before you fit one
The temperature rating is -15 F to 400 F, which is -26 C to 204 C, on a Viton seat. That is the manufacturer figure as bound into our certification report, and in that report this valve is identified as the component that sets the minimum allowable temperature for the assemblies it is fitted to.
It goes where it goes because the vapour space at the top of a solvent tank or recovery vessel runs warmer than the jacketed wall. If you are putting a relief somewhere genuinely cold, order a cryogenic CRV instead.
Where it mounts
| Port available | What to fit | Flow |
|---|---|---|
| 3/4 in top cap connection | One SRV530 on a tee | 970 SCFM |
| No 3/4 in connection | Two SRV390, one per 3/8 in port, each on a tee | 449 SCFM each, 898 SCFM total |
| A single 3/8 in port | Not acceptable | Will not pass the required flow |
One large valve or two small ones, never one small one. That is our certifying engineer's guidance, and the arithmetic above is why. The 8 in color remediation column takes the smaller SRV390.
Published flow curve
| Inlet pressure | Flow |
|---|---|
| 240 psi | 933 SCFM |
| 250 psi, at set | 970 SCFM |
| 260 psi | 1007 SCFM |
| 280 psi | 1081 SCFM |
| 300 psi and above | 1154 SCFM, where it plateaus |

Fitment and service life
- Fit it on: the solvent tank top and the recovery vessel top
- Do not fit it: anywhere that runs cold, or on a 3/8 in port on its own
- Replace every 12 months. These should not be popping off regularly, or at all
- A valve that has vented is one to look at now, not at its next interval
