ABOUT THIS PART

Economy encapsulated tri clamp ball valve, 304 stainless with a PTFE encapsulated ball and a lockable pull handle, in 1 in, 1.5 in and 2 in. $79.95, $123.95 and $163.95, rated 16 bar (232 psi), 1000 WOG.

Clearance, and we are not restocking. These are marked down roughly 22 percent off our own shelf price to move them, and when they are gone the listing goes. They are in Bend right now, so they ship rather than arriving after a lead time.

What you are paying for is the cavity, or rather the absence of it. On an ordinary ball valve the ball sits in a body cavity, and product sits in that cavity where you cannot reach it. Encapsulating the ball in PTFE fills that space, so there is nowhere for material to collect and the valve cleans in place.

And it rebuilds. The body is three piece and bolted, it comes apart with hand tools, and a PTFE seal kit is made for it. A worn seal is a service item on this valve rather than a reason to buy another one. The cheaper non-encapsulated valve has no replacement seat at all.

2 in $213.95 $163.95
Body 304 stainless, full port, three piece bolted
Ball PTFE encapsulated, no internal cavity
Rebuildable Yes. The body comes apart and a PTFE seal kit is made for it
Pressure rating 16 bar (232 psi), 1000 WOG cast into the body
Temperature range -22 °F to 248 °F (-30 °C to 120 °C)
Handle Lockable pull handle, so it does not get knocked open
Ends Sanitary tri clamp both sides. Gaskets and clamps are separate parts

This one or the non-encapsulated one

Economy encapsulated (this valve) Non-encapsulated
Ball and seat PTFE encapsulated ball, no internal cavity Two piece PTFE seat in a body cavity
Cleaning Nothing for product to sit in, so it cleans in place The cavity can hold product. Clean it properly and you are taking it apart
Rebuildable Yes. Three piece bolted body, and a PTFE seal kit is made for it No. The body opens, but no replacement seat is made for it
Pressure rating 16 bar (232 psi), 1000 WOG 15 bar (218 psi)
Handle Lockable pull handle Lever
Clearance price, 1 in to 2 in $79.95, $123.95, $163.95 $46.95, $64.95, $88.95

Take this valve when product sitting in a cavity is the problem: viscous material, anything that sets up, or a line you have to clean without pulling apart. It is also the one to take if you would rather rebuild a valve than replace it. Take the non-encapsulated valve on a clean service, where it is $33 to $75 cheaper in the same size. Both are final stock and neither is being restocked.

Fitment

  • Fits standard sanitary tri clamp ferrules in 1 in, 1.5 in and 2 in
  • Not a compression fitting valve. If you are plumbing 3/8 in or 1/2 in tube, you want the Superlok compression ball valves instead
  • Not for a hydrocarbon system. At 16 bar (232 psi) this valve sits below the 250 psi (17.2 bar) design pressure we build extraction systems to, and it is not an ASME pressure part. It is a sanitary transfer valve
  • Rebuildable. The three piece body comes apart with hand tools and a PTFE seal kit is made for it, so a worn seal is a service item
  • Needs a tri clamp and a gasket on each end: Viton or Buna-N
  • On the shelf in Bend, Oregon. Orders in by 1 PM Pacific usually ship the same day

FITSFinal stock, not being restocked. Standard sanitary tri clamp ferrules in 1 in, 1.5 in and 2 in. Rated 15 bar (218 psi). Sanitary transfer duty, viscous product and lines that must clean in place without disassembly. Needs a tri clamp and a Viton or Buna-N gasket on each end, neither included. Does NOT fit compression tube lines, use the Superlok compression ball valves for 3/8 in and 1/2 in tube. NOT for hydrocarbon service: 15 bar (218 psi) is below the 250 psi (17.2 bar) we design systems to and this is not an ASME pressure part. Not rebuildable, no replacement seats.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What pressure is it rated for?

15 bar, which is 218 psi. That is the valve rating, not a system rating.

Can I put it on my hydrocarbon system?

No. We design extraction systems to 250 psi (17.2 bar) and this valve is rated 15 bar (218 psi), so it is below the system design pressure. It is also not an ASME pressure part. It is a sanitary transfer valve.

Is this a final stock item?

Yes. We are not restocking it. It is priced under what these go for elsewhere online and it ships out of Bend the same day rather than on a lead time. When these are gone the listing goes, so buy a spare now if you want one.

What does encapsulated mean, and why does it matter?

The ball is wrapped in PTFE, which fills the cavity an ordinary ball valve has around the ball. No cavity means nowhere for product to collect, so the valve cleans in place instead of coming apart.

Can I rebuild it?

No. The body does not come apart and replacement seats are not available. The seat is the life of the valve.

Which should I buy, this or the non-encapsulated one?

This one for viscous material, anything that sets up, or a line you have to clean without pulling apart. The non-encapsulated one on a clean service, where it is $43 to $99 cheaper in the same size.

What is the pull handle for?

It locks, so the valve does not get knocked open or shut by someone walking past it.

Is it full port?

Yes.

What temperature will it take?

-22 F to 248 F, which is -30 C to 120 C.

Are gaskets and clamps included?

No. You need a tri clamp and a gasket on each end, and both are sold separately.

Does it fit compression tubing?

No. Tri clamp only. For 3/8 in or 1/2 in tube use the Superlok compression ball valves.

Do you make these?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. These are stocked parts built to our specification. The stainless we fabricate ourselves is the vessels, columns and condensers.

When does it ship?

It is on the shelf. An order in by 1 PM Pacific usually goes out the same day.
