Tri Clamp Ball Valve, Non-Encapsulated, Sanitary, 1" to 2"
ABOUT THIS PART
Non-encapsulated tri clamp ball valve, 304 stainless with a full port PTFE seat, in 1 in, 1.5 in and 2 in. $46.95, $64.95 and $88.95, rated 15 bar (218 psi).
Clearance, and we are not restocking. These are marked down roughly 20 percent off our own shelf price to move them, and when they are gone the listing goes with them. They are in Bend right now, so they ship rather than arriving after a lead time.
Sizes and prices
| Tri clamp size | Was | Clearance price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 in | $58.95 | $46.95 |
| 1.5 in | $83.95 | $64.95 |
| 2 in | $114.95 | $88.95 |
| Body | 304 stainless, full port, so there is no step to drop pressure across |
| Seat | Two piece PTFE, seated in the body cavity |
| Rebuildable | No. No replacement seat is made for this valve |
| Pressure rating | 15 bar (218 psi) |
| Temperature range | -22 °F to 248 °F (-30 °C to 120 °C) |
| Ends | Sanitary tri clamp both sides. Gaskets and clamps are separate parts |
One thing to be straight about: this valve is not rebuildable. The body opens for cleaning and inspection, but the seat is a two piece PTFE seal and no replacement seat is made for it. Treat the seat as the life of the valve and buy a spare valve rather than a spare seat. If you want one you can actually rebuild, that is the economy encapsulated valve, which takes a PTFE seal kit.
This one or the encapsulated one
The choice is the cavity, and it is not close once you know whether the cavity matters to you.
| Non-encapsulated (this valve) | Economy encapsulated | |
|---|---|---|
| Ball and seat | Two piece PTFE seat in a body cavity | PTFE encapsulated ball, no internal cavity |
| Cleaning | The cavity can hold product. Clean it properly and you are taking it apart | Nothing for product to sit in, so it cleans in place |
| Rebuildable | No. The body opens, but no replacement seat is made for it | Yes. Three piece bolted body, and a PTFE seal kit is made for it |
| Pressure rating | 15 bar (218 psi) | 16 bar (232 psi), 1000 WOG |
| Handle | Lever | Lockable pull handle |
| Clearance price, 1 in to 2 in | $46.95, $64.95, $88.95 | $79.95, $123.95, $163.95 |
Take this valve on water, glycol or a clean transfer line where a cavity is not a problem, and to spend less. Take the economy encapsulated valve when product sitting in a cavity is the problem you are solving, or when you want a valve you can rebuild instead of replace. Both are final stock.
Fitment
- Fits standard sanitary tri clamp ferrules in 1 in, 1.5 in and 2 in
- Not a compression fitting valve. If you are plumbing 3/8 in or 1/2 in tube, you want the Superlok compression ball valves instead
- Not for a hydrocarbon system. At 15 bar (218 psi) this valve sits below the 250 psi (17.2 bar) design pressure we build extraction systems to, and it is not an ASME pressure part. It is a sanitary transfer valve
- Needs a tri clamp and a gasket on each end: Viton or Buna-N
- On the shelf in Bend, Oregon. Orders in by 1 PM Pacific usually ship the same day

COMMON QUESTIONS
What pressure is it rated for?
15 bar, which is 218 psi. That is the valve rating, not a system rating.
Can I put it on my hydrocarbon system?
No. We design extraction systems to 250 psi (17.2 bar) and this valve is rated 15 bar (218 psi), so it is below the system design pressure. It is also not an ASME pressure part. It is a sanitary transfer valve.
Is this a final stock item?
Yes. We are not restocking it. What makes it worth buying anyway is that it is priced under what these go for elsewhere online and it ships out of Bend the same day rather than on a lead time. When these are gone the listing goes.
What does non-encapsulated mean?
The PTFE seats sit in a machined cavity in the body around the ball. That cavity is space product can collect in.
Can I rebuild it?
The body comes apart for cleaning and inspection, and our records list this as the rebuildable valve. Replacement seats are not a stocked item from our source though, so in practice buy a spare valve rather than a spare seat.
Which should I buy, this or the encapsulated one?
This one on water, glycol or a clean transfer line, where a cavity does not matter and you would rather spend less. The encapsulated one when product sitting in a cavity is your problem.
Is it full port?
Yes, so there is no step in the bore to drop pressure across.
What temperature will it take?
-22 F to 248 F, which is -30 C to 120 C.
Are gaskets and clamps included?
No. You need a tri clamp and a gasket on each end, and both are sold separately.
Does it fit compression tubing?
No. These are tri clamp only. For 3/8 in or 1/2 in tube use the Superlok compression ball valves.
Do you make these?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. These are stocked parts built to our specification. The stainless we fabricate ourselves is the vessels, columns and condensers.
When does it ship?
It is on the shelf. An order in by 1 PM Pacific usually goes out the same day.
