Hydrocarbon Solvent Tanks, 50, 75 and 100 LB, ASME and Non-ASME
ABOUT THIS PART
Jacketed hydrocarbon solvent tanks built in Bend, Oregon, in three sizes. 100 LB ASME code stamped, $28,750. 75 LB non-ASME, $18,750. 50 LB non-ASME, $17,550. All three are 250 psi (17.2 bar) MAWP with an electropolished interior, a 180 grit electropolished exterior and a cooling jacket.
Buy the 75 or the 100. The 50 LB is listed because people ask for it, but it is only $1,200 cheaper than the 75 and holds a third less solvent. Shops that buy the 50 come back wanting the bigger one, and a second tank costs far more than the $1,200 they saved.
Two 75 LB tanks are built and on the floor right now. If your jurisdiction, insurer or inspector asks for a code stamped pressure vessel, buy the 100 LB.

BUILT, NOT RESOLD
- N.B. Oler holds the ASME U stamp. The 100 LB is welded, hydro tested and stamped in our own shop.
- 100 LB design calculations are 3P Certz report DCR-200101-R1, released 13 January 2021, to ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1, 2019 edition. Registered in Canada as CRN R8694.5.
- The 75 LB traces to 3P Certz report ECR-180053-R0, released 21 December 2018, covering the 60 to 75 lb solvent tank.
- Non-stainless parts, meaning gaskets and seals, are purchased and are not represented as ours.
SPECIFICATIONS
Figures come from the design and certification reports, not a brochure. Common to all three sizes: 250 psi (17.2 bar) MAWP, certified on the 100 LB at 200 F (93 C), MDMT -155 F (-104 C), a 100 psi (6.9 bar) jacket, cooling by liquid CO2 or process chiller, SFA 5.9 / ER308L weld filler, zero corrosion allowance, 0.6 joint efficiency, electropolished mill finish inside, 180 grit electropolished outside, and jacket protection of a 100 psi (6.9 bar) cryogenic relief on the jacket, 22 psi (1.5 bar) on the inlet and a 1/2 in cryogenic needle valve. One crate, 80 in long x 16 in wide x 22 in tall at 600 lb, covers all three sizes. What changes by size:

Top caps are built to the port arrangement your system uses and quoted by email rather than sold from this page. Same for custom fittings, jackets and dimensions.
FITS
- The 100 LB is the tank fitted to the 20 LB system, and the 40 LB Double Barrel runs two of them.
- Buy any size as a second tank so one fills while the other runs, or to replace a legacy 50 lb or 200 lb tank.
- A material column rack can be ordered with a 100 LB ASME tank already on it.
- Butane, propane and blends. Not for ethanol service.
LEAD TIME AND TERMS
- Usually in stock. If yours has to be built, 20 weeks is the maximum.
- Paid in full before it ships. We do not offer net 30 or purchase order terms.
- Ships LTL freight. Freight is quoted and invoiced after the crate is measured, not charged at checkout.
CONSUMABLES
The high flow Conrader SRV530 goes on top of the solvent tank and nowhere else on the system, because in an emergency the largest volume has to dump pressure fastest. The jacket reliefs are cryogenic PRVs, 100 psi (6.9 bar) on the jacket and 22 psi (1.5 bar) on the inlet, on a 3 to 6 month replacement schedule. Gaskets are Viton, also 3 to 6 months. A solvent tank condenser speeds recovery back into the tank.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Which one should I buy?
The 75 or the 100. The 100 LB if anyone in your permit chain asks for an ASME code stamped vessel, and it is the tank our own systems ship with. The 75 LB is the same fabrication without the stamp, and two are on the floor today.
Why not the 50 LB?
It is only $1,200 cheaper than the 75 and holds a third less solvent. Shops that buy the 50 almost always come back wanting the bigger one, and a second tank costs far more than the $1,200 they saved. We still build it if you are certain.
What is the MAWP?
250 psi (17.2 bar) on all three sizes. On the 100 LB that is 250 psi at 200 F (93 C) with a minimum design metal temperature of -155 F (-104 C) and a 325 psi (22.4 bar) hydro test, per design report DCR-200101-R1.
What pressure is the jacket?
100 psi (6.9 bar) at 200 F (93 C) on the 100 LB, hydro tested at 130 psi (9.0 bar), with a 100 psi cryogenic relief fitted and a 22 psi (1.5 bar) relief on the inlet. The 75 and 50 carry the same relief valves.
Is the top cap included?
Caps are built to the port arrangement your system uses, so they are quoted by email rather than sold from this page. Call 541-330-6409 or email info@nboler.com with your build.
Can I run liquid CO2 in the jacket?
Yes. The jacket takes liquid CO2 or chilled fluid, with a 100 psi (6.9 bar) cryogenic relief on the jacket and a 22 psi (1.5 bar) relief on the inlet.
What is it made of?
SA-312/304L shell, SA-403/304L ellipsoidal heads on the 100 LB, SA-240/304L jacket shell, welded with SFA 5.9 / ER308L filler, zero corrosion allowance.
Is it registered in Canada?
The 100 LB ASME tank is CRN R8694.5. The 75 and 50 are not registered.
What is the lead time?
Usually in stock. If yours has to be built, 20 weeks is the maximum.
How does it ship?
LTL freight, in a crate 80 in long x 16 in wide x 22 in tall weighing 600 lb. That is one figure covering all three sizes rather than a measurement per size, and it is the crate a tank ships in on its own. Freight is quoted and invoiced after the crate is measured, not charged at checkout.
Which relief valve goes on top?
The high flow Conrader SRV530. It goes on the solvent tank top and the recovery vessel top only, because those are the two largest volumes on the system.
Do you offer net 30 or purchase order terms?
No. Tanks are paid in full before they ship.
